We aim to make the Helensville Show as accessible and inclusive as possible so everyone can enjoy our great family event to the fullest. Here is a range of ways we are doing that:

  Wheelchair Access

Helensville showgrounds are completely flat, and each year our volunteers put in a lot of effort to ensure the grassed areas such as the trade section and the carnival area are as flat and smooth as possible. The main show building has a level concrete floor. Getting to the equestrian rings does involve crossing the sand racetrack, but the main crossing area is pretty well compacted for show day. Please note: if it is very wet in the days prior to the show, some grassed parts of the grounds could become too soft for narrow wheelchair wheels.

   Mothers’ Area

Helensville Birthing Unit will have a special, private fan-cooled area set aside for new and expectant mothers to rest, chat with each other, and breast-feed in private for those uncomfortable with doing so in the show’s more public areas.

  Seniors’ Drop-in Zone

Helensville Citizens Advice Bureau will be running a shady resting place with comfortable seating for seniors who need a break from the excitement of the day. Expect a warm welcome, peaceful ambience, and the chance to grab a refreshing drink of water or juice.

  What Else?

We’ll be adding more information to this page shortly. In the meantime, if you have a specific accessibility question please contact us.
